Five Nights at Freddy's

(kinda)

Five Nights at Freddy's began with a simple horror game where you take the night shift at a cheap children's pizza place full of mechanical animal mascots that are also trying to kill you. At the time, if you knew about the newspaper clippings that could be spotted rarely on the security feed, you knew more about the story than most other players. This left a lot of room for artists to create "alternate universes" (AUs) that explored what was originally a very simply premise with room for creativity. Now, this series is an infamously convoluted and profitable multimedia franchise, and I am among the few people abnormal enough to still "have" an AU of their own.

Sister Location, the fifth game, was commonly accepted as a turning point in the narrative, the installment with which Five Nights at Freddy's started to portray a completely different story than it originally set out to tell. As a result, my AU is somewhat of a time capsule that only covers the first four games. There's no remnant and no Afton family drama. A lot of characters that would later get names have totally unique ones, and I pick and choose which little details in new media to use for parts. With that said, it'll probably be a lot easier to follow.

The Setting

The company that would become Fazbear Entertainment in 20th-century Utah presented itself as being at the cutting edge of modern entertainment and business. Of course, like any company, at the end of the day, what matters most is quick profit. As a result, it didn't always make the most moral (or even intelligent) of choices. The events that happened under its jurisdiction were mostly strokes of bad luck, but perhaps they wouldn't have collapsed as an unmourned testament to human greed if they had responded differently.

The Employees

Alexander Scouten was a cog in the FazEnt machine from the beginning. He became an assistant manager early into his career, but was passed up on every potential promotion afterwards due to nepotism despite doing infinitely more work than any of the managers. Initially a model employee, the more misfortune struck the establishment, the less he began to believe in the company practicing what it preached. Unfortunately, being nonconfrontational and also one of the few people keeping the sinking ship of a company afloat, he remained in his position until it killed him. He might be better recognized as the Phone Guy.

Porfirio Larkspur, born Porfiriusz Królikowski, was the eccentric, flamboyant mechanic at Fredbear's Family Diner. As a performer at heart, if he could have it his way, he'd be one of the suit actors instead. However, what most people didn't realize was that Porfirio wasn't just headstrong and full of himself – he was sadistic. This wildcard is the real face of the enigmatic Purple Guy.
